Become an Instructor. Start Today!
Welcome to CPR-Professionals LLC — your pathway to becoming an American Heart Association certified instructor. Whether you want to teach BLS for Healthcare Providers, Heartsaver CPR/AED, or First Aid, our instructor training program will prepare you with the skills and confidence to lead your own classes.
Before beginning instructor training, you'll need to complete the AHA's online Essentials Instructor Course specific to the discipline you want to teach. This self-paced online course covers AHA teaching methodology, class management, and student evaluation techniques.
You'll also need a current provider-level certification in the discipline you wish to teach. For BLS instructors, a minimum 2-year medical/healthcare background and a current BLS Provider certification are required.

You must hold a current provider-level certification before beginning instructor training. Training focuses on facilitation skills, not medical expertise.

Our instructor training is currently available for students based in Colorado. There are many misconceptions about what it takes to become an AHA instructor — you don't need to be a medical expert. The AHA's instructor program is designed to train facilitators, not clinicians.
AHA courses are video-mediated, meaning the course videos guide the class content while you, as the instructor, facilitate hands-on practice, answer questions, and evaluate student performance. Your role is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident practicing life-saving skills.
The training process includes completing the online Essentials course, attending an in-person instructor orientation, co-teaching (monitoring) under a Training Center Faculty member, and finally teaching your own classes independently.
After completing the Essentials course, you'll schedule an in-person orientation session at our Training Center. During orientation, we'll review AHA policies, administrative procedures, equipment usage, and class management techniques.
You'll then complete at least one monitored teaching session where a Training Center Faculty member observes and evaluates your instruction. Once you've demonstrated competency, you'll receive your instructor card and can begin teaching independently under our Training Center.
The First Step of Instructor Training is the Online Essentials Instructor Course
Before scheduling your in-person orientation, you must complete the AHA Essentials Instructor Course online. This self-paced course covers teaching methodology, class structure, student evaluation, and AHA administrative requirements.
After completing the Essentials course, contact us to schedule your in-person orientation where we'll review your responsibilities, introduce you to our Training Center processes, and begin preparing you for your first monitored class.
Prerequisites:
- Heartsaver Instructor: Must hold a current provider-level certification (Heartsaver CPR/AED or higher).
- BLS Instructor: Must have a minimum 2-year medical/healthcare background AND a current BLS Provider certification.
